Where do you start with the environment? With natural disaster, climate change, carbon footprints, deforestation and endangered species – and that’s just for starters – it can be hard to see how an individual or even a school can make a genuine difference.

Nobody has the answers. But one man who knows more than most is David Suzuki, one of the world’s best-known and most respected environmentalists, who has spent decades teaching young people why and how they should go green. You can read his views and, after that, discover just how many innovative and genuinely effective solutions are being put in place by IB World Schools.

Our issue also features the inspirational Greg Mortenson, and the first IB graduate in space. And as if that wasn’t enough, we’ve got our best ever competition, with the chance to win a goat for your school. The logistics and ethics of mailing real goats proving a little constraining, we’ve opted for adopting goats at an ethical and educational farm in the USA.
